GESEA CERT1 (JOHANNESBURG)

PRACTICAL TRAINING WORKSHOP – Wednesday 18 – Thursday 19 March 2026

CERTIFICATION – Friday 20 – Saturday 21 March 2026

 

To ensure patient’s safety in laparoscopic surgery, the EUROPEAN SOCIETY FOR GYNAECOLOGICAL ENDOSCOPY (ESGE), in collaboration with ESHRE, SERGS and ESGO, has conducted extensive scientific research resulting in a validated programme of exercises for acquiring and testing laparoscopic psychomotor skills.

LASTT1™, SUTT1™ and HYSTT1™ are validated assessments and certification method which measures and evaluates psychomotor skills in camera navigation, hand-eye and bi-manual coordination.

All exercises are executed in dry-lab set-up, with participants working together in pairs, and under the strict procedural guidance of instructors.

 

CERT1 PRACTICAL TRAINING WORKSHOP – Wednesday 18 – Thursday 19 March 2026

This 2-day Workshop invites participants to learn, test and improve their LAPAROSCOPIC SKILLS using the validated assessment and certification method developed by the ESGE.

The Workshop is open to all delegates interested in laparoscopic surgery.

Venue: Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, Johannesburg.

 

CERT1 CERTIFICATION – Friday 20 – Saturday 21 March 2026

The certification will involve both the theoretical based assessment (Friday evening, 1 hour assessment) and the practical based assessment (Saturday).

All CERT1 mentees must have completed the GESEA Level 1 e-learning videos and achieved the GESEA E-Learning – Level 1. A copy of the GESEA E-learning Completion Certificate must be submitted to to kerryn.macdermott@uct.ac.za in order to participate in the GESEA Certification.

Please register your interest for the CERT1 sessions using the following registration form. We receive a high volume of applicants for every course and space is limited. 

Registering your interest does NOT secure a registration for the event(s).

Registering your interest for this course will be open until FRIDAY 20 FEBRUARY 2026, after which registered individuals will be prioritized and slots allocated according to initial date of request.
